Ceramics

The ceramics industry requires significant logistic management capabilities due to the large number of models and types it manages. For efficient logistics, the use of barcodes is indispensable.

Coding and marking is present throughout the process, including on the product itself, the final dispatch unit (the pallet), and the cardboard boxes commonly used in this industry.

Cardboard boxes for ceramic products contain information about the product and its classification  that is especially important. For example, there are products with the same model but with different finish categories (Class I, Class II, and Class III). During the production process and prior to palletization, it is important to classify products through the automatic processing of barcodes previously printed in real time on the box. For coding and marking boxes, UBS recommends the use of APLINK Series High-Resolution Inkjet Printers with mineral-free oil-based ink, which allows the corrugated cardboard to be fully recyclable and is environmentally friendly.

Once palletized, strapped, and wrapped using a stretch hood (the best method for automatically wrapping palletized loads with pre-stretch plastic that perfectly adapts to the volume of the load, ensuring the product is totally stable and providing maximum outdoor protection), the pallet is labeled following the GS1 pallet labeling recommendations, with 210x148 mm labels on adjacent sides, thereby facilitating subsequent barcode reading during later storage and distribution logistics processes. This is why UBS APL Series equipment systems allow wrapped pallets to be labeled on 1, 2, or 3 sides, regardless of the type of pallet used: Euro-pallets, universal pallets, half-pallets, and adjustable-height pallets.

LabMan , UBS's data management system software, makes it possible to perform unified management of inkjet printing systems, identify boxes and their classifications from a reading station, and manage printing queues and pallet labeling while also integrating and centralizing this data with the local or remote ERP. This approach makes it possible to prepare and generate the labels for each logistic unit, with all the information it must include for proper storage, transport, and distribution. See more

High-resolution inkjet

Using 4th generation piezoelectric printhead technology, UBS APLINK Series high-resolution printers can print scannable barcodes, images, texts, and variable content with high contrast directly on any porous or non-porous substrate.

APLINK Series combines mineral-free oil-based ink technology and LED-cured UV ink technology to print on the various surfaces used for secondary and other types of packaging.

Equipped with an 10.1"  touchscreen controller (APLINK LCX Series, 5.7" touchscreen) and software with an operator-friendly graphic interface, APLINK Series printers can be connected to the computer network via Ethernet connection using the TCP/IP protocol, or they can be used as stand-alone systems with the messages recorded in their 4GB of memory, providing capacity for up to 10,000 messages.

Print & Apply

Real-time automatic printing and application of labels eliminates  the errors caused by manual labeling and provides greater speed and accuracy, reducing operating costs in the production chain.

Thanks to their multiple application options, UBS APL Series Print & Apply  systems allow for on-the-fly, high-cadence labeling of all types of secondary packaging (front, rear, side, top, corner, and adjacent-side labeling). For end-of-line labeling of pallets, we  also  offer  the option to label pallets and half-pallets on 1, 2, or 3 sides, including stacked and/or variable height pallets.
